  As an overarching plan for China’s opening-up strategy in the new era, the Belt and Road Initiative delivers China’s proposal to promote common development across mankind. It is contributing its wisdom and shouldering its responsibility as a powerful country under the world pattern. It aims at developing together with countries along the Belt and Road, possibly even all nations around the world, prompting the world’s opportunities to work for China and China’s opportunities to work for the world. On May 14, the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation was held in Beijing, and President Xi Jinping gave a keynote speech — Work Together to Build the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road. During the last four years, the Belt and Road Initiative translated concepts into action, transformed vision into reality, and reaped plentiful and substantial achievements.

  Located in the hinterland of Sichuan Plain, Chengdu has been an important hub of the Silk Road on the southern and northern routes since ancient times. Nowadays, it continues to play a role as a strategic support role in the Belt and Road Initiative. Since the Initiative put forward by President Xi, the Chengdu Municipal Party committee, Municipal People’s Government, and Municipal State-Owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC) have actively supported the “going out” strategy and encouraged state-owned enterprises to do so. The company, as the leading water environmental protection enterprise in western China, is more competitive in technology, capital, and talents in the market. Combining the goal of being an internationally well-known and industry-leading enterprise in five to ten years, the company is deeply involved in the construction of the Belt and Road, seizing opportunities to bring it to a new level.

  In 2016, the company set up a joint venture with China ENFI Engineering Corporation and MCCT. They utilized funds, resources, and technological advantages from all sides and work together to accomplish the Pakistan Lahore project to incinerate 2,000 tons of refuse per day for electricity generation. Pakistan is a vital part of Belt and Road Initiative since the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, a friendly partnership that lies between the two countries. The fulfillment of the Lahore Project is a good example for the company to drive it to the next step to construct the Belt and Road.

  The company has employed the Belt and Road Initiative as a development opportunity over the last two years and company poured great energy into overseas investment projects in sustainable water, such as the waste-to-power project in New York, the United States; water supply and discharge project in Lahore, Pakistan; and water supply and solid waste treatment project in India. By doing so, it accelerated establishing joint-venture partnerships with Pakistan, India, Germany, and the United States, realizing coordinated development from all sides gradually by establishing in Chengdu and pursuing nationwide influence and a global range of business.
